Treated decks are commonly green-treated or treated southern yellow pine. These are essentially the same thing when it comes to deck building. Pressure-treated lumber has been gaining popularity as well. However, we advise sticking with green treated for anything on or near the ground level because it offers more durability and longevity. Treated decks are the least expensive of materials we commonly use.
Because wood shrinks over time, we build most of our treated decks with almost no gap from board to board. If you start with a gap, it may become excessively large over time. This can be a safety hazard as well as lead to the annoyance of things falling between the boards. We like to create a product designed to last and pay close attention to detail when we build any project. It may take a little extra time, but we believe it is worth it to make the most of your investment with us. Many people combine our wood decks with aluminum balusters. These make for a beautiful final product on any treated deck or screen room. If you have additional questions on treated wood feel free to send us an email, post to our blog, or give us a call at any time!
